MP stands first in atrocities against women, says Ajay Singh

Published on:

leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh on Sunday said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) considered Gross Development Product (GDP) growth as indicator of growth but it cannot measure development works.

"Madhya Pradesh stands first in terms of atrocities against women, deteriorating law and order situation and fake industrialisation," Singh told reporters in Bhind.

Replying to a query about firing during the 'Parivartan Yatra' of the Congress, he justified it as a tradition of Chambal and claimed that BJP workers had fired shots using 500 guns to welcome Narendra Singh Tomar when he was appointed as state BJP chief.

Alleging that 12 ministers had cases pending with the lokayukta but were not being removed, Singh claimed that the Congress will win at least 150 seats in the 230-seat Vidhan Sabha elections.

State Congress President Kantilal Bhuria charged that CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan adopted double standards. Tribal leader Vijay Shah was removed from the post of Tribal and SC Welfare Minister but no action was taken against about a dozen ministers, including senior minister Babulal Gaur, and Tomar for making indecent comments.

“The Congress has launched 'Parivartan Yatra' to throw the BJP out of power by exposing its faulty policies before the public. The party is fighting for poor and farmers. Corruption will be the major poll plank,” Bhuria told reporters in Bhind. Claiming that no groupism existed inside the Congress, Bhuria said party leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh and Suresh Pachouri will take part in the 'Parivartan Yatra'.
