To discuss the severe drought situation in the State, a one-day special session of the Madhya Pradesh assembly would be convened on November 5. A notification to this effect was issued by Governor Ramnaresh Yadav on Saturday.
The special session will discuss the farmers' plight in in 104 severely affected tehsils and make provisions of adequate funds to deal with the ensuing agrarian crisis. The Government would seek approval of the Assembly to allocate funds of around Rs 3,000 crore to the agriculture department to meet the exigency of relief.
