Member of Parliament from Bhopal Alok Sanjar met Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajiv Chaudhri on Thursday with respect to major issues concerning the citizens of Bhopal. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Bhopal Zonal Council Chairman CP Sharma accompanied him.
The objective of the interaction is to discuss continuation of Indore Bhopal Double decker service which railways have decided to discontinue from 12th Aug 2014. The train service is beneficial for commuters especially business class travelling between commercial Capital and political capital of Madhya Pradesh and also to people who wish to proceed to other destinations from Bhopal junction.
Proposal to extend the Bhopal - New Delhi Shatabdi Express upto Habibganj station and new EMU service between Vidisha to Itarsi to help people commute to Mandideep and Bhopal for work also submitted to DRM.
The demand of extending Bhopal- New Delhi Shatabdi Express upto Habibganj is a long pending one as the former Bhopal MP Kailash Joshi in is his tenure which comprises of four terms tried his best but failed to persuade railways to the demand. The newly elected Bhopal MP Alok Sanjar is working hard for the extension of services and earlier also several rounds of meeting have been done but in vain.
The development of platform number six into drive in platform for Shatabdi Express proved to be a short term service as without having shed over the platform it could not be used in rainfall and hot humid temperature due to which the Shatabdi Express has been scheduled to arrive at platform number 1. These problems could be solved permanently after the extension of Bhopal- New Delhi Shatabdi Express upto Habibganj.
