MP police app Citizen Cop fails to get response

Published on:

The Citizen Cop mobile App of Madhya Pradesh police seems to have failed in the State as the police officials do not show any interest in it.

Besides, the citizens are not taking initiative in this direction. The App was launched with much fanfare with very useful features of traffic jam, tracking of towed vehicles from no-parking zone and reporting incidence, live location tracking, police directory and vehicle owner search.

The lull response from the responsible has lead to the non-functioning of the app which could prove a boon for the city commuter and residents in making their life simpler on the roads and commuting in the city along with the identification of the crimes and criminals.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Shalini Dixit said that there is some technical issue in the app and would be resolved soon but she was not able to provide the reason and the time within which the technical glitch would be resolved.

The last update of the App was few months ago and after which the negligence has lead to the halt in the update. The city information was uploaded last on February 20, 2015.

It is an easy to use to App but the lack of updation of vehicle has made the features of the App useless for users. As soon as one enters the app two features will pop up on the screen.

Citizen Cop is an initiative to assist the citizens for navigating smoothly in traffic and to locate the towed vehicle by police. The App and another project in which the record of the criminals was collected where the ideated by  the then IG Upendra Jain and he had worked hard for the two but after his leaving the post officials have not shown interest in developing and at least maintaining the Citizen Cop App which is really discouraging.
