The three phased general elections in Madhya Pradesh might also witness a triangular contest.
The State that has the bipolar history since its creation might witness a triangular contest for the first time in its history in the ensuing general elections dates for that has been announced. It is also for the first time that elections for the 29 parliamentary seats of the state would be held in three phases.
The State that has the history of biopolar contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress is going to see the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates in the fray this time around. Already the fledgling party has announced in 14 candidates for the lok Sabha elections.
It is going to declare remaining candidates shortly. In 2009 general elctions the BJP won 16 seats while Congress had to content with 12 seats, BSP also bagged one seat.
In the past, several unsuccessful attempts have been made to form the third alternative in the State that otherwise has a bipolar political history but if the emergence of AAP and its Statewide acceptability is any indication than the Arvind Kejriwal led newly formed political outfit is for sure going to give sleepless nights in the future not only to the major political players of the State- the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main Opposition Congress, but also to the smaller parties that often attempted to form a joint third front in the State.
Political analysts keeping close watch on the political developments in the State are also of the view that AAP may fill in the vacuum to provide much sought after third alternative in Madhya Pradesh. The increasing support of the common man to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Madhya Pradesh has pitched hopes that a much sought after third political party is emerging in the State.
