Madhya Pradesh is making remarkable progress in the areas of alternative energy systems including Wind Power, Solar Energy and New and Renewable energy. This is evident from setting up world’s largest capacity ultra modern solar project in Rewa district.
The New and Renewable energy Ministry – Government of India has decided to set up a 750 megawatt capacity ultra modern solar project in joint venture with Madhya Pradesh Government and Solar Energy Corporation of India in Rewa district of the State.
Country’s largest and world’s third largest solar energy project was inaugurated on February 26, 2014 at village Diken in Neemuch district of the state. This project has the capacity of 130 megawatt.
It is due to the policies of the state and faith in its working style that of the 750 megawatt New and Renewable Energy Ministry – Government of India’s ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission’ second phase batch 1, 220 megawatt capacity’s 7 projects have been established in the State. The State is also making progress in the field of wind energy and was placed at number two in the year 2014-15 in establishing wind energy in the country. This financial year 456.3 megawatt capacity was established in the state that is more than the capacity of last two decades.
Investors’ faith for investment in this sector in the state has increased due to State Government’s policies, positive and simple working style and availability of land. In present circumstances, State is among the leading states in wind energy sector.
At present 48 projects of renewable energy are under process that would yield 570 megawatt including 147 projects of wind energy that would generate 6310 megawatt, 30 projects of biomass energy that would yield 272 megawatt and 49 projects of small hydro power yielding 272 megawatt.
