MP High Court issues 'contempt of court' notice to Cong general secretary

Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday issued ‘Contempt of Court’ notice to Congress general secretary Mohan Prakash for his statements delivered at the State Congress office on July 8.

Prakash had given controversial statement while talking to mediapersons that the conduct of High Court in the infamous Vyapam case needs to be examined.

The double bench of Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice SK Gupta has sought reply of the notice within two weeks, asking as why action of ‘Contempt of Court’ is not initiated against him.

A petition in this regard was filed in the court by advocates of Jabalpur Anil Soni and Sanchay Seth. On Wednesday, on behalf of the petitioners, advocate Ajay Raizada pleaded the case.

He argued that the High Court is a constitutional institution and raising questions on the conduct of High Court in connection with the Vyapam case investigation, was shameful. The court has also issued notice to Advocate general of Madhya Pradesh Raveeshchandra Agrawal.
