The Madhya Pradesh Government is mulling to formulate a law to prevent love jihad.
The central Indian State is planning to formulate a law shortly to deter love jihad, Home minister Narottam Mishra said on Tuesday.
"We are planning to table MP Dharm Swatantrya 2020 bill in the assembly shortly," said Mishra adding that a bill will cover the issue of love jihad.
However, the law will require a complaint mandatory from parents. This will make the offence a punishable crime with provision of jail term upto five years.Besides, forceful conversion shall also invite jail terms, added the Home minister. Those abetting the act will also be considered criminal, added Mishra.
Those willing to covert by will for marriage, have to apply for the same with the collector one month prior to the marriage, said the minister. New provisions will make forceful and deceitful marriage null and void, said the
Minister. Notably, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had recently said that love jihad cases will be dealt sternly in the state and has ordered officials to formulate preventive measures.
