vMadhya Pradesh government has given a big gift to the railway passengers. The state government has constituted a committee for the Indore Manmad rail project. With this decision of the Madhya Pradesh government, every year crores of railway passengers can get increased convenience. In fact, this rail scheme has been pending for years and this decision of the state government has opened the way for the rail scheme to be started again.
Indore Manmad Rail Project is to be completed with the financial cooperation of Ministry of Shipping and Port Corporation along with the Government of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This rail scheme will not only reduce the distance from Indore to Mumbai but will also reduce the travel time.
Indore-Manmad railway line is of utmost importance because it will greatly reduce the distance between Indore and metropolitan Mumbai. After the construction of the new railway line, the distance between the two metros will be reduced to about 250 km.
Right now, to go from Indore to Mumbai, one has to travel via Ratlam and Vadodara. In this way, the train travels to Mumbai to reach Mumbai. After completion of Indore-Manmad rail line, trains will start running directly from Indore to Mumbai via Dhamnod-Manmad.
In this way, not only will the distance of Mumbai be reduced but the time will also be saved in the journey. This is the reason why Indore Manmad Railway Sangharsh Samiti has been formed demanding the completion of this project at the earliest, which is continuously fighting for this project.
An MoU was proposed for this project about five years ago between the central government and both the state governments. Under this, the governments of both the states i.e. Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have to give 15-15 percent amount in the project cost. Out of the remaining amount, 15 percent amount has been fixed for the Ministry of Shipping. The remaining 55 percent is proposed to be given by Jawahar Port. Under this MoU, the state government has constituted a high level committee.
