MP farmers protest against UPA today

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) farmer cell has called on countrywide 'Rail Roko' agitation on Friday.

Trains would be stopped in 10 cities of the State including the State capital in response of the call. The Cell has given call to press its demand for implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission and farmers' demands. Cell national president Omprakash Dhankhad while talking to mediapersons here on Thursday said, "Our fight is with the Union Government now. The agitation would be deferred only if the Central Government accepts our demands."

Dhankhad further said that Swaminathan Commission recommendations are lying with the Government since 2007 but it did not pay any heed to implement them. On the one hand the Government of India implemented the recommendations made by the Seventh Pay Commission in the interest of the employees but failed to implement the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission that are in the interest of the farmers, he added.

He alleged that over 1.45 lakh farmers committed suicide in the country due to anti-farmer policies of the Central Government while 30 peasants raising their voice in the interest of farmers were shot dead. It is due to the anti-farmer policies of the Central Government that the common man of the country is not ready to become farmer, he added. The national president of the BJP farmers' cell said that the micro-financial policies of the Central Government ruined the financial condition of the farmers of the country.

On being asked about the condition of farmers of Madhya Pradesh, the senior BJP leader replied that the State Government has done good works in the interest of farmers due to that the State has recorded record crops and the State got the Krishi Karman award.
