State Congress has alleged that the farmers are passing through worst phase of life under the Bharatiya Janata Party rule in Madhya Pradesh and in times of trouble, the State Government instead of standing with the villagers is pushing them towards death.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and MP Kantilal Bhuria expressing grief over the suicide of a young farmer Badrilal of the village Badnara under the Bilpaank police station area of Ratlam district said, “Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan off and then claims of making agriculture a profitable business in the State, but the suicide of Badrilal exposes that how hollow are his claims.”

Badrilal, a villagers  under pressure from the market and bank loans committed suicide on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Bhuria, also former Union Minister said that the reality in the State is that due to bad condition of agriculture in the State, the farmers are not able to repay market and bank loans and are committing suicides. Over 11,000 peasants have committed suicide under the BJP in the State till now. This is a black chapter in the history of the State, he added.

He said that over 11,000 farmer families became orphan due to debt and the chief minister does not have a little of its realization is a matter of shame. The economy of the state is based on agriculture and in these conditions the continuous suicides by the peasants due to debt shoes that the State Government and the chief minister are not taking the issue of peasant’s loans seriously, he added.

The senior Congress leader said that for getting advantage in the elections the BJP government is wasting crores of rupees on useless schemes but for saving the precious lives of farmers this government is not able to arrange funds.
