Senior Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath alleged that the suicide rate among farmers in Madhya Pradesh is higher than sub-Saharan Africa. He was speaking at ashow in a news channel on Saturday.
“Shivraj Singh Chouhan says he is son of a farmer, but what kind of son is he when most number of farmers committed suicide under his chief ministership,” he asked.
He added that as president of Madhya Pradesh Congress, his challenge is to strengthen the party's organisational structure. As the state is number one in crime against women and farmer suicide, Kamal Nath talks about joining hands with the opposition to eliminate the BJP regime from the entire nation.
"We will think if we need to join hands with opposition. We will discuss about it, and if need be, the Anti-Modi front will be one and fight against the odds. We have learnt this over the period of time that this nation should be Modi free", he added.
When asked who would be the chief minister candidate in Madhya Pradesh to stand against Shivraj sing Chauhan, Kamal Nath dogged the question and said, “The public of the state is intelligent to understand who would be the face of Congress.”
To a query, whether his fight is against the BJP regime or the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in particular, he said, "Madhya Pradesh has different issues and problems to deal with. It is not feasible to compare. We are fighting against the whole BJP Government. It's not just the Modi or Shivraj that we do not want in the nation.”
