Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Kantilal Bhuria, leader of the Opposition Ajay Singh and State Mahila Congress president Archana Jaiswal have alleged on Tuesday that the 4-years-old rape victim died due to negligence of the State government in providing proper healthcare to the victim.

Expressing condolence over the death of the victim on Tuesday, Bhuria said that her life could be saved if the State government had taken her to Delhi or Mumbai for treatment instead of admitting her in a hospital at Nagpur.

“Immediately after the incident, instead of providing proper treatment, time was wasted by admitting her in a hospital in Jabalpur. Three days later, she was air-lifted to Nagpur where doctors said that she did not respond to treatment. She was in come for last few days,” Bhuria alleged.

Bhuria has demanded that a high-level probe should be conducted to bring out the truth of government’s negligence in the matter. He also demanded that immediate instructions should be issued for district administrations and medical officers to take proper care in such cases. leader of Opposition in the state assembly Ajay Singh has also targeted the government for death of the victim.

“Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is responsible for the death. When it was clear that condition of the victim was not improving in last few days, instead of shifting her to better hospitals, the government merely fulfilled the formality of providing treatment,” he said, adding that the victim’s parents had already pointed out that proper care was not available at the hospital.

He said that the incident had again exposed the real face of the Chief Minister who tries to prove his credentials on the basis of schemes like ‘Beti Bachao’ and ‘ladli laxmi’ while failing to provide safety to girls. Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress has also criticized the government in the state alleging that the death of 4-year old rape victim has exposed the true face of the government as well as the Chief Minister.

State Mahila Congress President Archana Jaiswal said that the serious crimes being committed against women proves that the government is not serious in protecting them.
