Demanding the land allocation for Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) branch in Bhopal, a memorandum was submitted to Governor Ramnaresh Yadav here on Wednesday.
The memorandum was submitted by a delegation under the leadership of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Spokesperson Syed Saud Hassan.
Notably, during the UPA regime, in the light of recommendation of Sachar Committee, five off-campus branches of AMU were to be established in five states one of which included Bhopal.
Saud said that after much insistence by UPA, the BJP is not allowing to establish AMU in Madhya Pradesh. And till now land has not been allotted for the University. As a consequence of which the Muslim students are kept deprived of the best education. Besides, Muslim students are unable to get education from one of the reputed universities of the country. Talking about the meeting with the Governor, Saud said that Ramnaresh Yadav listened to him peacefully and assured that the matter would be looked into. Also he said that it would be a good initiative for the Muslim students and would also enrich the education level of Madhya Pradesh. Ramnaresh Yadav assured that he will put this issue before the Government.
Not only this, but the members of Old Boys Association of AMU had a word with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and talked about the establishment of AMU in Bhopal. But sadly, being pressurized by radical organizations CM directly refused the land allocation for the university.
Saud said that AMU branches have already been established in West Bengal, Bihar, Kerala and Maharashtra and sadly, the struggle is going on till now in Madhya Pradesh.
