Remembering Kasturba Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi on her 150th year of birthday a peace convention was organised at Carmel School’s auditorium, BHEL by Mount Carmel Province for the students and staff of different schools of Bhopal.

Fr. Varghese Alengaden, the president of Universal Solidarity Movement (USM) said in his address, “Religion makes us to worship God. We follow a culture, tradition and ritual to show our identity and proud to say that we are Indians. We organise many meetings, conventions and seminars for peace but we fail to experience peace. The tendency to commit suicide is keep on growing. We fail to say that we are proud to be human. The reason for our failure is that we don’t search peace within us and we don’t include everyone as a part of one’s growth.”

It is the time to take charge of the country. Let us not leave the responsibility to solve the problem in the hands of God. We need to become another Jesus, Krishna, Mahatma Gandhi to solve the crisis facing the country, he added.

Anuradha Shankar IPS, the chief guest of the convention said in her address, after returning from Africa - Mahatma Gandhi travelled far and wide to know the truth why did British rule Indians? In the process realising the weakness and strength of the Indians he started freedom movement using non violence. She asked the students not to follow any leaders blindly but to follow the truth of inclusiveness to die for the country.

The peace convention looked very glamour with speeches, songs, dances on the theme “peace” from the students of Carmel Schools -Kolar, Ratanpur, Baghmugalia, and BHEL and motivated with the presence of Anuradha Shankar IPS, Fr. Varghese Alengaden USM, Shailendra Sirothia, Fr. Maria Stephen PRO, Sisters and staff and ended with National anthem.
