West Central Railway (WCR) attached more than 350 coaches in trains during May 2013 for the convenience of passengers.
WCR in the wake of heavy rush in the trains and long waiting list for reserved berths during the summer holidays, attached 365 coaches in different express and super fast trains. Also more than 830 passengers were upgraded to AC second and third tier coaches.
Income of WCR has also increased by 19 per cent in May 2013 in comparison to May 2012. WCR has earned Rs 97.74 crore in the May 2013, while income by the cargo services was over Rs 277 crore which has also increased by 5 per cent in comparison to last year.
More than Rs 4.1 crore rupees were collected by WCR during the ticket checking in the trains which was 46 per cent more than last year.
Income of Bhopal railway division has increased by 20 per cent in the month of May 2012 in comparison to May 2012. Income of Bhopal railway division was Rs 59.10 crore in May 2013 while it was Rs 36.87 crore in May 2012.
In the month of May 179 extra coaches were also attached in the trains of Bhopal railway division.
The main trains in which extra coaches were attached are train number 12154 Habibganj-lokmanya Tilak Terminus express, 12183 Bhopal-Pratapgarh express, 12185 Habibganj-Rewa Rewanchal express etc.
Income by ticket checking was most in Bhopal railway division of WCR.
The income increased by 59 per cent and Rs 134 lakh was collected in May 2013.
