Several children of the city aspiring to be theatre artistes are being trained by noted theatre personalities at Gandhi Bhavan. A month-long theatre workshop is being organised for the aspiring students by Children’s Theatre Academy. The workshop began from Wednesday and would continue till June.
Students are being taught basic acting exercises to strengthen their skills. This programme would further help the students to free them from self consciousness and strengthen their concentration through sensory exercises. Students are given assignments for application in their theatrical performances.
How to use the props and properties, speech therapy, improvisation of stories, body movements, facial expression with dialogue, footwork on music along with other experimental exercises are being taught by noted theatre personality Prem Gupta.
“To begin with the basics of theatre activities, it is important for children to know in what pitch the voice has to be used while acting on stage,” said noted theatre artist Prem Gupta.
Elaborating further, he said, “It is also important to be patient and manage all the theatre activities with brilliance and this is what we taught as the vital basic of theatres. Children were also taught to make masks.”
