The much-awaited monsoon is all set to enter this heartland State of Madhya Pradesh between June 18 and 20 or latest by June 21 while an adequate rainfall is expected this year.

"The south-west monsoon will cover the entire Madhya Pradesh by June 30 and there will be no drought-like situation as the impact of El Nino has weakened. After two years of scanty monsoon this year the State is expected to receive normal and in some places more than normal rainfall," Director, Regional Meteorological Centre, Anupam Kashyapi, told media.

Kashyapi said the presence of la Nina in between July and September would also be favourable for the monsoon.

Talking about the national scenario, Kashyapi said the monsoon would hit Kerala coast on June 7 or 8 and in Madhya Pradesh it would enter from the southern part. He said that the State receives the monsoon from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian sea.

The monsoon current from the Bay of Bengal remained stronger than from the Arabian sea as of now but the scenario would change from July and a good amount of rainfall would lash the State between July and September.

Kashyapi predicted that the western part of Madhya Pradesh would receive normal monsoon but in case of favourable condition, 13 per cent more rainfall could take place while eastern part of the State that witnessed less rainfall for the past two years, this year there would be 3 to 13 per cent more rainfall.

"Considering the activities of this year's monsoon, the crops such as soybean is expected to a bumper crop besides the cultivation of paddy would also be good," Kashyapi said.

To a query, Kashyapi said that the parched Bundelkhand region would also receive a good amount of rainfall in July and September.
