With a bizarre reason, a mother of two allegedly killed her six-month-old daughter. After being arrested by police on the charge of killing her daughter, she told police that she was unable to take care of her three-and-half-year-old son properly due to the presence of the daughter.
She had filed a complaint with police claiming that she found the baby missing from her home after she came back from a bath.Ironically, the incident has come to fore when a lot of efforts are being made towards women empowerment and saving girl child.At first the incident was reported to the police claiming that the girl has been abducted. Baby's mother Ritu Ahuja also narrated a concocted story of abduction to the police on the day of the incident on September 7.
She told police that she had gone for morning walk on the day and when she returned, the baby was missing. During preliminary investigation, the police examined the CCTV footages of the house and it was quite visible that Ritu was taken her daughter in a baby bag and drove away on a two-wheeler.
On the basis of the evidences, the police have arrested Ritu Ahuja (27), who has accepted to have killed her daughter Arohi and dumping her body near a temple. On the leads provided by the woman, the police have recovered remains of the victim's body from the Bargi hills. The remains have been sent for DNA tests for confirming the infant's identity.
Deputy Inspector General of police (Jabalpur) Makarand Deuskar told media persons that police are awaiting forensic tests to ascertain the cause of the baby's death.During interrogation, Ritu told police that her son often remains ill and she was unable to pay attention to him because of Arohi, Deuskar said. The woman's husband is a businessman based in Jabalpur.
