The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that the new record of voting is in favour of its prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, who is the symbol of hope for the country.
BJP Madhya Pradesh spokesman Vijendra Singh Sidodia in a statement here on Monday said, "The election for the sixteenth lok Sabha has refreshed the memories of Mahabharat. The war of Mahabharat lasted for 18 days while the lok Sabha elections took 36 days to get completed. There were three and a half dozen candidates against Modi. It was BJP versus all non-BJP parties struggling under so-called secularism umbrella, but no one is able to change the destiny and it is now decided that Modi would be the next prime minister of the country."
Sisodia further said that interestingly Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced before the start of the election battle that he would not be part of it and the Congress also accepted its defeat as it failed to name any warrior from its side for the greatest political war of the country. The candidature of Modi from Varanasi is no longer a question of victory but the election would play an important role in making Modi the next prime minister of the country, he added.
The election of Varanasi became a prestige issue for the people of the country and Varanasi and the people fought it with full might. The people of the country and Varanasi accepted that the election of Modi is associated with the future of over 125 billion citizens of the country. He said that the election no longer remained just an election, instead, proved to be the Kurukshetra where people voted for the development, good governance and justice for all.
