Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Prime Ministerial nominee Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tried to “mislead” the people through “false” advertisements.

Addressing an election meeting at Kala Pipal in Dewas Shajapur constituency in support of Congress candidate Sajjan Singh Verma, Nath said, “Modi and Chouhan are misleading people by issuing false advertisements.”Dewas -Shajapur parliamentary constituency would go to polls on April 24. “Chouhan in the last five years issued advertisements of around Rs1,000 crores only in Indore and Bhopal,” the Union minister said.

He said BJP was “adept” at finding new issues for every election to “mislead” people. Nath also accused Chouhan of “passing off” the Central schemes for welfare of people as schemes launched by himself. Earlier, in the morning Nath cast his vote from the Chhindwara constituency from where he is contesting the lok Sabha elections.

“Today is a festival of democracy. Being a part of the celebration and welfare of people of Chhindwara is important for me,” said Nath after casting his vote. “I didn't find any reason for me to panic about my result,” he added. The confidence of the Congress stalwart could be gauged from the fact that soon after casting his vote he left the constituency to address election meetings in support of his disciple Sajjan Singh Verma who is defending his Dewas Shajapur constituency parliamentary seat.

He addressed two public meetings at Kala Pipal and Agar and then flew back to his constituency Chhindwara.

The meetings were also addressed by Congress candidate from Dewas Shajapur constituency Sajjan Singh Verma, Chairman (minority department) – Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Mohamed Saleem and noted Urdu poet Manzar Bhopali.
