The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MKVVCL) will organise a National Lok Adalat on March 8 to resolve cases of electricity theft and irregularities across 16 districts in the Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions.

The Lok Adalat provides consumers, with pending cases under Section 135, an opportunity to settle them through mutual agreements. The scheme will be available to domestic, agricultural, and non-domestic consumers with up to 5 KW load, as well as industrial consumers with up to 10 HP load.

So far, 945 consumers have registered for the Lok Adalat, and the company expects to recover over Rs 1.5 crore in settlements. Cases will be considered at two levels—pre-litigation and litigation. Consumers settling pre-litigation cases will receive a 30% waiver on assessed civil liabilities and 100% exemption on interest accrued due to delayed payments. In litigation cases, a 20% waiver will be given on civil liabilities along with 100% exemption on interest.
