Mixed bag for Union Budget

Mixed reactions came from the political parties in Madhya Pradesh over the Union Budget 2014-15 tabled in the Parliament on Thursday by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The Bharatiya Janata Party termed it the common man’s budget while the main Opposition Congress termed it anti-people and the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) said the Budget is disappointing.

Senior BJP leader Govind Malu said, “The BJP Government at the Centre has once again proved that whatever party says also does. Every section of the society and all parts of the country has been kept by the union finance minister while presenting the budget. Special attention has been paid on the poor and middle class, in totality it is an excellent budget that reflects that good days are ahead.”

Bhopal lok Sabha Committee — Congress President Amit Sharma said, “The budget is anti people. Hike has been made in the goods used by the common man. Provisions for exemption has been made to promote big industries and capitalists while no relief has been announced for the small scale and cottage industries.”

CPI state secretary Shailendra Kumar Shelly said, “The decision of FDI in defense and insurance besides selling of shares of the government banks is incorrect. In totality the budget is based on the anti people policies that would increase the woes of common man in future.”

SP state president Ashok Yadav said that the budget is anti people and disappointing.

The Aam Aadmi Party terms the first Union Budget of the BJP-led NDA government as a damp squib. The party feels that the Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Mr Arun Jaitley has disappointed the Aam Aadmi who had great expectations from the Modi government, especially on the issues of price rise and job creation.  On these two issues the budget offers nothing.
