Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that he will urge the Governor to extend the monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly beyond July 25.

It has been agreed in the discussion with Leader of Opposition Govind Singh to hold the Monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, which will start from July 25, in August due to the urban body and three-tier Panchayat elections.

Mishra said that he will urge His Excellency Governor Mangubhai Patel to go ahead with the session.

The Home Minister said that due to the voting for the Presidential election and the counting of the urban body elections being held on the same day on July 18, there was also a discussion on requesting the Election Commission to extend the date of counting of votes for the civic elections with the Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh.

Accordingly, the counting for the second phase of urban body elections in Madhya Pradesh will now be held on July 20 instead of July 18. State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh said that the presidential election is to be held on July 18.

As per Commissioner Singh, it is necessary for all the legislators to be present in this. Voters are the same. They would like that the local MLAs should also be present in the counting which is being done in their area. All the parties had also demanded in this regard. After this decision has been taken.
