Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were burgled by miscreants in a Ayodhya Nagar house in the wee hours of Sunday. They used chemical spray to turn the family members unconscious while they burgled.

The miscreants also disrupted the fuel supply of the victim’s vehicle and those in the adjacent houses to prevent anybody chasing them down. The victim, Santosh Shroti said that he along with his wife was sleeping on the first floor of the building while their sons were sleeping on the ground floor. The miscreants entered the house through the terrace of the adjacent building which was vacant and used the same route to escape.

He added that he woke up after hearing his dog bark but when it stopped barking, he tried to leave the room to check but failed to raise an alarm as he was under the influence of the chemical. The miscreants loaded a truck with valuables and escaped.

Providing details, Shroti said that around five miscreants took away gold and silver jewellery worth about Rs2.5 lakh, a gas cylinder, ATM cards, voter IDs, keys of vehicles and a wrist watch. The dog was also found unconscious and later it was wrapped with a towel and thrown on the roof of other building. It is still unconscious.

Shroti was also frustrated over police inaction as when he gained consciousness and was able to raise alarm, the neighbours gathered and informed police but no one arrived after the complaint. After this, he went to the Ayodhya Nagar police station where he found that the on duty police personnel were sleeping and when he requested them, the investigation was started.Police have registered a case under Section 457 and 380 of the IPC.
