Miscreants decamped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees at Akash Ganga Colony under Shahpura police station on Saturday.
Police said the incident occurred at the house of one AK Gupta, an engineer with the Irrigation Department, when he and his family had gone for a night movie show. When they returned home at around 1 am they found the door was broken and house was ransacked.
The Station House Officer P Namjoshi said it was a busy road where the house is situated due to which people are seen till late night which made it an easy target for the miscreants. The locals have seen 3-4 people and suspected that they might involve in the burglary. The miscreants entered the house by breaking window pan.
The domestic help could not be suspected as the victim had not planned the movie earlier and he took a leave on Saturday after which the movie plan was made. The senior police officer disclosed they will question both domestic helps and the security guards.
Gupta claimed that valuables worth Rs 2.5-3 lakh and cash Rs 30,000 were found missing. The main entrance is guarded by security personnel but inside the colony the security is not enough to curb such crimes. The miscreants broke the central locking system of the main door. The police have registered a case and investigations started.
