Minority colleges claiming exemption from online admission system will have to submit their minority status certificate by Thursday. Over 40 colleges in the State are claiming to be minority institutions including nine colleges from Bhopal.

It is worth mentioning that Department of Higher Education (DHE) wanted to include minority colleges in the online admission process, but the colleges protested that by including minority colleges in the online admission process DHE will flout Section 30 (1) of the constitution. After which DHE exempted minority colleges from online admission system.

DHE Commissioner VS Niranjan said that minority institutions have been asked to submit certificate of minority status issued by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutes (NCMEI) compulsarily by May 16.

Niranjan further said that though the minority institutions are exempted from the online admission system, but still DHE will monitor the admissions in the institutions. A special module for the minority institutions have been provided in the DHE portal.
