The State Congress in a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer (MPCEO) Jaideep Govind has alleged that at the instance of certain ministers of the BJP Government the youth of the minority community in Khandwa parliamentary constituency are being threatened by the police for supporting the Congress.
Khandwa goes to the polls on Thursday in the final lap of polling in the state. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman JP Dhanopiya in his compliant to the MPCEO said that the police administration is openly threatening the youth of the minority community that if they work openly for the Congress then they could be booked in false cases and arrested and sent to jail.
Dhanopiya said that the act of the police administration has instilled fear in the minority community. Hence, it is not possible that they could vote fearlessly. The minority community in Khandwa is considering itself insecure ahead of the polling, he added. He requested the MPCEO to immediately instruct the Khandwa superintendent of police to stop this unwanted action so that the minority community could come out fearlessly to vote on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a six-member delegation of the Congress also called on the State Director-General of Police (DGP), Nandan Dubey, over the issue and handed over a compliant to him and apprised him about the objectionable police action against the minority community in Khandwa.
The delegation said that if the police action is not stopped then it would become impossible for the minority community to vote fearlessly and the action could also disturb the peace in the area.
