A minor was raped under Talliya police station area but relevant IPC sections were not mentioned while registering the case. The reality surfaced when the minor recorded her statement before the magistrate, officials said on Sunday. Accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
Additional deputy police commissioner Ramsnehi Mishra told Free Press that a 15-year-old girl filed the complaint on Sunday. The police registered the case under Sections 354, 223 and 506 of IPC and POCSO Act.
In the afternoon, the girl recorded her statements before magistrate under Section 164 of CrPC. In her statement, she stated that she was raped and that she belonged to SC. In late evening, the police registered the case of rape and added Section 376 of IPC and SC/ST Atrocity Act in the case.
As per compliant, the 15-year old girl was called by accused Sachin Gupta, a resident of Chhola Mandir area, who told her that he would take her to a temple. However, he took the girl to a house and raped her. When senior officials came to know about it, they intervened and added the sections.
