The subcommittee discussed the proposed plan. It will now be forwarded to the cabinet.

Housing Secretary Ayyaj Tamboli said the re-development working plan will be completed in four phases spanning between 12 and 18 months.

The state Water Resources Department has already surrendered its houses in Shanti Nagar     with land to the Housing and Environment Department.

In the first phase, 31 illegal shanties have been removed. For their rehabilitation, the Raipur Municipal Corporation is undertaking a survey and will allot them homes.

The Housing Board will acquire the land and float a tender for developing the area. An architectural firm will design the project. Private developers will build the buildings without      making alternation in basic design.

Then these will be   handed over the concerning parties and sold in public, the communique said.
