Mineral Resources Development Minister Rajendra Shukla will participate in a meeting on Mines & Minerals (Development and Regulation) Ordinance to be presided over by Union Steel and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi on January 19. The meeting will discuss roadmap for implementing provisions of the ordinance.
It is noteworthy that the Central Government has issued Mines & Minerals (Development and Regulation) Ordinance by amending Mines & Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. The ordinance has been brought to ensure open participation and transparency in allotment of mines and provide mining concessions through auction. The ordinance also envisages increased State share in royalty on mineral wealth.
