Minister of Revenue and Science and Technology, Government of Madhya Pradesh Umashankar Gupta conducted ‘chaupal’ at Katju and JP Hospitals here on Monday.
Gupta listened patiently to the views and complaints of the patients. Some patients complained about the irregularity of doctors and some complained about the misbehaviour by hospital staff. After listening to all the complaints, Gupta gave necessary instructions.
It is to be noted that this was the second Chaupal conducted by Gupta at Katju and JP Hospital. The Revenue minister started the Chaupal at the hospitals to enquire about the hospitals’ condition and listen to the complaints of the patients. Gupta reached Katju hospital at 9:30 am and then reached JP Hospital at 10:30 am.
During the Chaupal, a female patient complained about misbehaviour by hospital staff. Hearing the complaint, Gupta instructed the officials to look into the matter immediately. He warned the hospital staff that if the work is not carried out properly and the facilities are not provided to the patients then the errant staff will be suspended with effect.
On hearing about the irregularity of doctors at JP Hospital, Gupta checked the attendance register. Anil Tiwari told Umashankar Gupta that there is no record of doctor’s regularity. He asked the superintendent to put up a duty board at hospital’s premises and keep a record of doctors’ regularity.
He also asked the doctors not to prescribe medicines which are not available at the hospital’s chemist shop. He also instructed the doctors to be available on their scheduled time at the hospital and treat the patients or else strict action would be taken against them.
One patient complained about the misbehavior by chemist.
On hearing this Gupta immediately called chemist and asked to apologies to the patient. He told the patients and doctors that he will again hold Chaupal on next Monday.
