Civil society activists have accused State Energy and Minerals Resources Minister Rajendra Shukla, Rewa district administration and Samdariya group of colluding with goons for attacking and removing peaceful protestors from the site of redensification project in Narendra Nagar locality of Rewa town on March 27.

The allegation was made in an interim report prepared by a team of activists including National Vice-President of Samajwadi Jan Parishad Sunil, Adivasi Dalit Jagriti Sangathan member Madhuri and Greenpeace India activist Pankaj Singh released on Thursday.

The report points out that protests against the proposed mall and shopping complex to be build over the 3.75 acre land allocated to Samdariya Builders under redensification project started on January 30 by a coalition of organizations led by an activist Gafur Khan and continued till March 27 when the protestors were attacked by hired goons.

Subsequently, the police removed the protestors from the dharna site following which the excavation work at the site has started at full swing. The protestors and the goons who attacked them registered counter FIRs against each other at Civil line police station on this matter.

Based on the FIRs several persons were arrested and also released on bail the next day. However, nine protestors were booked and arrested by the police under sections 151, 41 (2), 107, 109 and 116 (3) of IPC.The report points out that the police and administration delayed release of the arrested protestors on bail with the objective of preventing them from joining the Rewa-bandh organized on April 1 in protest against the incident.

It has been alleged by the three activists that large scale corruption is involved in allocation of land to Samdariya group for the redensification project in Rewa.
