During surprise inspection of backward class post-matric girls and boys hostels at Bhopal on Friday, labour, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Minister Antar Singh Arya ordered immediate suspension of Assistant Director Rais Khan for negligence in maintenance.
Arya expressed unhappiness over pitiable condition of sanitation, power supply, gym’s equipments, poor maintenance of buildings of girls and boys hostels. The Backward Class Welfare Minister visited rooms and sought information from inmates about sanitation, facilities, scholarships and problems.
Arya told the students that if officers do not act on their complaints then they can directly contact him at his residence. Immediate action will be taken on their complaints. Arya told the students that they can contact him every Monday and Tuesday between 10 and 11 am. Arya also gave his phone number to students.
Arya expressed unhappiness over seepage in building of 50-seater Backward Class Girls Hostel, continuously dripping water from ceiling of washroom, insanitation and loose electricity wiring etc. He directed for 24-hour watchman facility, sanitation in both morning and evening, telephone and internet on computer.
Arya said that arrangements for clean drinking water should be made and fans, light, taps etc. should be replaced as soon as they go out of order. The hostel has 10 per cent inmates preparing for Madhya Pradesh Public Service Exam and remaining 40 percent for graduation and post-graduation courses.
During inspection of 100-seater Backward Class Boys Hostel, the Minister rebuked concerning officers over pitiable condition of fans, water supply without water filter, use of own mattresses by students, non-delivery of hostel scholarship, bad condition of gym’s equipment etc.
