The minimum temperature is likely to increase with the approaching of one Western Disturbance, due to which the minimum temperature is very likely to increase gradually by 3-5 degree Celsius over many parts of Northwest during the next three days.

But during the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of a cold wave in some areas of Madhya Pradesh.

After the passage of back to back Western Disturbances on January 13, 2023, icy cold winds from the Western Himalayas will blow over Northwest and Central India including Madhya Pradesh, causing a significant drop in temperature.

There is no significant change in the minimum temperature in many parts of Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours and after that there is a possibility of a drop of 2-4 degree Celsius.

Madhya Pradesh has been chilling since January 1. According to the Meteorological Department, the attitude of winter is going to be more intense from Friday. In view of extreme cold, school holidays have been declared in many districts including Bhopal and Indore.

Due to cloud cover, the Friday night temperature in Gwalior, Chambal, Bundelkhand, Rewa, Singrauli, Jabalpur and Bhopal including its surroundings can dip below 6 degree Celsius.

Bhopal, Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Chhindwara,  Narsinghpur, Nowgong, Rewa and Sagar had cold days (4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius below normal) in Madhya Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, Betul, Dhar, Khandwa, Jabalpur, Seoni and Umaria experienced extremely cold days.

During the last 24 hours, the wind direction in Bhopal was northeast. Due to the high speed of the winds coming from the Himalayas, about 12 to 15 km per hour, the wind chill factor dominated in Bhopal. Because of this, cold was felt more for the last two days, while the minimum temperature of Bhopal remained in the range of 7 to 7.5 degree Celsius.

Due to a trough in the lower tropospheric levels from Southeast Uttar Pradesh to West Vidarbha, moisture will increase over South Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal during next 2 days.
