Targets of minerals’ reconnaissance and assessment of deposits have been exceeded in the State during last 9 years.
Target for geological survey was 1.8 lakh square kilometer against which it was done in 1.10 lakh 344 square km. Target for assessment of boring for mineral deposits was 45,500 meters against which it was done in 52,222 meters. Besides, 51,677 sources have also been analysed against the target of 40,500.
In survey operations, dolomite’s 229 million tonne deposits were detected in Harda district and 107 million tonne of limestone in Satna district. Besides, calcite deposits of 93,850 tonnes were detected in Burhanpur and Jhabua districts and 56 million tonne deposits of leterite/iron ore in Mandsaur and Damoh districts. Exploitation of these deposits in future will provide necessary minerals to industries and revenue to the State Government.
Similarly, Mineral Resources Development Department has undertaken production-oriented operations for coalmining. District-wise minerals table is also being chalked out for maintaining updated information about minerals available in the state. So far, mineral tables of 35 districts have been prepared. Mineral Resources Development Department has undertaken major exploration operations from year 2004-05 till June 2013. In year 2004-05 dolomite’s 20 MT deposits were explored in Dewas district and 13.95 MT in Harda district.
