A two-month old baby boy was strangulated and later banged on the floor by his father after a fight with his wife in Banganga under TT Nagar police station on Monday.
According to the police, on Monday night the accused Shanawaz Khan (28) had gone to his in-laws house to bring her wife back home who was staying at her parents' home for the past few days after having a fight with him.The request soon turned into a verbal spat after his wife Sameena (25) refused to return home. This infuriated the accused and he took his two-month old baby Shahadat and tried to strangulate him to death. When his wife and her parents tried to rescue the baby, he banged the baby on the floor and escaped the spot.
The victim baby was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is reportedly critical. The baby has sustained multiple injuries and is under observation, said the doctors. A complaint was lodged with the TT Nagar police on Tuesday and after preliminary investigation registered a case under section 307 of the IPC. The accused was arrested later by TT Nagar police. In the initial investigation it was found that the accused used to work as labour but was not able to make both ends meet as he was not regular at work.
