The picnic spots of Mhow tehsil are turning into a graveyard of the youths as more than 10 youths have lost their lives at different picnic spots of Mhow in past one year.
Ironically, the administration has deployed policemen and the volunteers at most of such picnic spots but during the festival times the force is busy in law and order and accidents take place.
Most of the youths have lost their lives in Bamania Kund pond and Mehndi Kund pond besides this the Patalpani and Choral dam are also the risky tourist spots. The district administration has initiated security measures at Patalpani and choral dam is undertaken by MP tourism department.
But the Bamaniya Kund and Mehndi Kund are still abandoned by the administration and these ponds are at the secluded place in the forest area and generally the youths studying in the colleges of Indore district are not aware of the danger at this Bamaniya Kund pond and Mehndi kund pond and the youths who don’t know swimming suddenly fall in these ponds and as there is no security arrangement and nobody to save them from drowning they lose their lives. Few days back two students of law studying in Devi Ahilaya University Indore lost their lives in Bamaniya Kund by drowning and other three friends who were present on the spot could not save them.
Managing Director of MP Tourism Illaya Raja told The Pioneer that very soon a team of engineers will visit the Bamaniya Kund and Mehndi Kund area and we will come up with permanent solutions. Addl SP Mhow Nagendra Singh told, “We will accompany the team of engineers of MP tourism and show them the dangerous picnic spots.
