In yet another lokayukta drive against corrupt officials, the sleuths of lokayukta police on Friday arrested a police jawan at Badgonda in Mhow tehsil while taking a bribe. The accused identified as an assistant sub inspector Natwar Singh Nayak was arrested by the lokayukta police as soon as he took the bribe from the complainant and took the money in his shirt’s pocket.

According to lokayukta TI Dinesh Patel, on Thursday, the complainant Satpal Ninama had lodged a complaint of eve-teasing with Bargonda police against a person. However, an assistant sub inspector of Bargonda police identified as Natwar Singh Nayak demanded a bribe of Rs5000 to take action against the accused.

Subsequently Ninama lodged a complaint against the said police jawan with the lokayukta police. Taking a cognizance of the complaint, the lokayukta SP Arun Kumar Mishra on Friday sent some lokayukta cops to Mhow, asking the complainant to go to Bargonda police station with a bribe amount of Rs3000.

As per the laid plan, on Friday morning as soon as the complainant handed over the bribe money to the accused cop and the latter put money in his shirt’s pocket, the sleuths of the lokayukta police who were waiting outside in the plain cloths entered cop’s cabin and arrested him. Though the cop has been released on bail, the lokayukta police has registered a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
