Additional Chief Secretary Energy ICP Keshari said that the metering, billing and collection should be implemented effectively according to the rules in the power distribution system. Every consumer should have a meter installed at home, meter reading should be ensured and bill should arrive before the due date. He said that the billing cycle should be reviewed.

Keshari said that the average billing should be given only in case of burnt or faulty meter or if the meter is not in the circuit of electricity line in the consumer premises and in the meantime the replacement of the meter in the concerned consumer premises should be ensured. The average bill should not be of over three months. Keshari was addressing a workshop to give final shape to Draft Commercial Manual in the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company’s Power Distribution training Centre on Friday.

Keshari said that the system of distribution of power can be considered smooth and sound only when we are alert 24 hours about the power supply. The uninterrupted power supply is the priority of the state government and any lapses will not be tolerated in any way. He told all the employees of the company that he can call anyone right from the Chief General Manager to the Junior Engineer any time on their mobile from an unknown number. If the phone is not picked then strict disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned. Keshari said that the employees should be sensitive towards consumers and behave well with them. Managing Directors of all the three distribution companies kept their views on the commercial manual. Four groups were formed under the chairmanship of the Managing Director for the process of group communication in the workshop. These groups gave presentation in view of the practical difficulties in commercial activities. After the review of suggestions and presentations, the commercial manual will be finalized in one week.
