The heat wave continuing in the city for the past sometime today broke all the records of the past few years with maximum day temperature in the city soaring to 44.5 degree Celsius.
The maximum day temperature in the city recorded today was the highest in the past six years.
It was on May 22, 2010 when the city had recorded maximum temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius
The maximum day temperature in the city in May had been recorded on May 31 1994 with mercury touching 46 degree Celsius.
According to meteorological department, heat wave will likely to continue in the city in the coming days, though there are chances of mild showers in the city on Thursday following developing of cyclone in the Bay of Bengal.
