With a collection of 108 seer (Ser) collection, which are from various princely states and from the time when weighing system was introduced in independent India; Ranjeet Kumar Jha of the city owns the unique collection.

Working for an MNC after completing engineering, Jha developed interest for seer (Ser) collection during the water crisis situation in the city when the water of the upper lake dried and Jha during his visit here, found an old Seer of Bhopal State – symbol approximately equivalent to BMC logo. Since then, he started collecting different types of Seer-like Bhopal State, Gwalior State, Mewar and Agra. The maximum number of seers in the collection is from Agra which is around 70.

The seer holds different values in different states. For example 1 ser of the city equals to 960 gm while 1 seer of Baroda equals to 420 gm.

Some seers of Riyasat-e-Bhopal have inscription in Urdu while seer (Ser) of Bhopal state (M.P) have symbol of Bhopal state. The collection has pound which were handle and square shaped and belong to the time when they were first introduced in the country.

The system was unified on April 1, 1956 and metric system having kilogram and gram as small units was introduced in India. The units of the Ser are 8 Rati equals to 1 Masa, 12 Masa equals to 1 Tola, 5 Tola equals to 1 Chatak and16 Chatak equals to 1 seer.

Jha completed his engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya and in the year 2008- 09 he started to collect the seer. Six seers (Ser) of Indian Foundry from six tola to 5 seer are in the collection.
