To make the traffic arrangements better in Bhopal, Divisional Commissioner, SB Singh convened a meeting of senior officials at his office on Wednesday.
While addressing officials, Singh emphasised on collective efforts and exploring possibility towards improvement. He sought to disseminate the message of a better traffic arrangement in whole State through Bhopal. The issue of vehicles plying without registration number plate was raised in the meeting, as the police have seized several new vehicles that were not registered. Taking note of it, Singh instructed the RTO to convene a meeting of showroom owners and instruct them not to deliver vehicles without registration number, failing which dealer as well as owner will be bound for legal action.
Singh tried to draw attention towards old city and widening of roads from Royal Market to Railway station. He instructed officials to conduct a survey in this regard. Similarly he also discussed the process of widening of Bairasia road. The issue of traffic jams due to parked vehicles was also discussed in the meeting as the hospitals located near Motiya Talab are short of parking spaces, Singh instructed officials to ask hospitals’ authorities about their parking space.
Permission and usage of basement was also discussed in the meeting and the senior officer said that land use and permission should be considered in this case and in case of irregularity notice should be issued and points should be discussed which were mentioned in the permission. The Commissioner asked officials to develop Nadra bus stand as a terminal, instead of maintaining it as a bus stand. If it has to be developed as a terminal, buses should not be parked there permanently.
RTO said that the permission, bus stand and destination of buses have been made clear and the buses are now taking bypass route instead of entering the city as a result of decisions of recent meetings and their implementation. Trucks loaded by gas tankers, diesel and petrol tankers going through Bhopal to other cities are also not entering the city and only those tankers which are to be unloaded are entering.
The officials informed that now, other vehicles do not enter BRTS corridor and travelling at BRTS has now become easier which is a result of social awareness. DIG Sriniwas Varma emphasised on construction of railway over bridge at Sigaarcholi and discussed the need of nearly 50 parking lots, due to increasing number vehicles in the city.
