Mohan Shingane’s art work is nothing but an unusual collection of broken pieces. The solo exhibition ‘Meditation on Objects’ by the renowned artist is attracting many of the art lovers of the city.

The exhibition put up at Rangdarshini Art Gallery of Bharat Bhavan began from Tuesday. Mohan’s work was all about the broken pieces of unused things available at home. He has magnificently used those things with adding a fine finishing touch of his imagination.

Talking about his work, Mohan said, “Everyone has some specific interests. In my childhood days shapes and forms attracted me. I used to keep looking at them and feel their beauty. All this filled me with joy.”

Elaborating further, he said, “In villages we often see cracked glasses, broken discolored cups being put on some wall or some racks outside the wall. As if they are useless. They are thrown out of their places. These broken shapes are used for different work now and I have created art pieces out of them.”

Mohan very beautifully has rejuvenated the broken pieces of mugs, glasses, earthen pots and much more into beautiful art pieces. “Sometimes I feel that a broken shape is also a shape at all. like before it was. But when it breaks our relation with it is also broken. But when you try to see positivity in it or tries to see the beauty of that broken piece, it becomes an art work,” added Mohan.

The useless objects, which are usually thrown by people amazes the art lovers of the city.
