Measures in place to curb mishaps during summer

The traffic police Bhopal have identified accident-prone areas in the city and have made arrangements to curb the number of accidents in these areas, particularly in summer.

A pattern that has emerged from the data of the last year’s accidents was surprising as more number of accidents occurred during the summer season which reflects in the data of total number of accidents.

In the year 2014, highest number of accidents occurred in the season of summer which was around 1328 in which 86 people died and 932 sustained injuries while during the rainy season 846 accidents were reported and in winter season 1009 accidents were reported.

It is no coincidence that most number of accidents occurs in the summer season; there are reasons which are behind the huge number of accidents.

The police officials find that the biggest reason is the clear weather condition which urges driver to push the pedal to the extreme.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) MK Jain said that the clear weather conditions drive the commuters to drive speedily and which results in more number of accident whereas in rainy and winter season the number of accidents are comparatively low due to alert and attentive driver who chose to drive in control with less speed. Chetak bridge, Fish Aquarium, Jail Road are among the spots which are accident prone.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Basant Kaul said that the divider, signage, speed limit boards, road delineator, cones  which would help in curbing the accidents would be used to control the number of accidents.

Jain Mandir in TT Nagar area, Banganga square and Ankur square are the areas prone to accidents which would be taken care of during the summer season.

He confirmed that the number of accidents increases in the summer season and precautions have to be taken, saying additional measures will be taken for the situation.
