The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, is celebrating its 68th Raising Day on Sunday. The institution, an Alma Mater for officers of the Corps of Signals, has transformed itself into a Centre of Excellence that specialises in training on Combat Communication, Electronic Warfare, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Cryptology, Cyber Warfare and IT.

It traces its roots to the School of Signal founded in 1946. In the past couple of decades the College has also played a stellar role in promoting Adventure Sports like Hang Gliding, Para Gliding and Microclite Flying.

lt Gen Rajesh Pant, AVSM, VSM, Commandant MCTE and Col Commandant Corps of Signals inaugurated a colourful and action packed function, fondly called Pagal Gymkhana, on Sunday to celebrate the 68th College Day. This College Day, a kaleidoscope of sorts was very special as it was attended by many Ex-Commandants of MCTE, whose pioneering contributions to the College are well known. At the same time the presence of Veterans of the Corps was a great occasion to connect with them.

The Khukri Dance by troops of the local Gorkha unit kept the beat rocking. Exciting games and races, in which all ranks and their families participated with great gusto, kept the spirit of fun and frolic alive. A martial touch was given by a superb display by the Corps of Signals Kalaripayattu Team. The joie-de vivre was enhanced by a colourful Bhangra dance by the local Sikh Regiment. The Regimental Brass Band in its resplendent liveries, played joyful notes adding to the gaiety. A Body Building Display by the Corps of Signals Body Building team was an inspiration for the audience for the “Body Beautiful”. The display exclusively choreographed for the College left the audience in awe. Musical chair, an all time hit on such festive occasions, lived upto its expectations. The tug of war between officers and JCOs was keenly contested. The Commandant’s Banner was won by Cipher Wing. A “Barakhana” in traditional style was arranged for all present for the occasion. In an address to the College on this occasion the Commandant thanked everyone for their avid participation.

The complete program was an example of administrative excellence and organisational efficiency.   Attention had been paid to details which would otherwise appear as trifles to the untrained eye. What differentiates the men in uniform is this quest for quality and excellence.
