Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) celebrated its 68th College Raising Day on Tuesday. A ceremonial parade was organised at the Drill Square of Cadets Training Wing (CTW), to commemorate the occasion.
The parade commanded by WCC K Bhuvaneshwaran and reviewed by lt Gen Rajesh Pant, AVSM, VSM, Commandant MCTE and Col Commandant Corps of Signals, showcased the precision and coordination of the contingents of cadets marching to the tune and beat of the Corps of Signals Brass Band.
The event was graced by ex-commandants of the college, children from local schools, employees at the college and their families. A fascinating flypast by the Mountain Eagles, the microlight flying team of MCTE added glitter to the impressive parade.
later, during the day, a tree plantation ceremony was also held. The College, which has taken several initiatives in tune with the credo of ‘Think Green’ in the past, also played a leading role in pioneering eco-friendly ventures. ‘Rome was not built in a day’ goes the saying.
The Commandants Conclave has been a symbolic thanksgiving to its eminent pioneers, who set up this institution brick by brick, stone by stone and in many ways tree by tree. Speaking to the media, with fond reverence and love for this great institution, one of them said, “I had left a part of my heart and my soul here. I felt it once again!”
The college traces its roots to the School of Signals set up at Mhow in 1946. The institution, an Alma Mater for officers of the Corps of Signals, has transformed itself into a Centre of Excellence that specializes in training on Combat Communications, Electronic Warfare, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Cryptology, Cyber Warfare and IT. In the past couple of decades the College has also played a stellar role in promoting Adventure Sports like Hang Gliding, Para Gliding and Microlite Flying.
