Having elected Mayor of Bhopal, Alok Sharma on Thursday reached out to senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to express his gratitude towards them. Sharma started his day by reaching the BJP State headquarters Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya campus where he called on the State president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan and expressed his gratitude towards him for his guidance during the election.

Chouhan greeted him for his victory and advised him to get engaged in the development of the city. During the meet both leaders garlanded and offered sweets to each other. Former MlA Ramesh Sharma Guttu was also present on the occasion. From there Sharma reached the house of former Chief Minister Sundarlal Patwa. “The Alok Sharma has full blessings of mine,” Patwa said.

From there the new city Mayor reached the house of another former chief minister Kailash Joshi. “I was not expecting such a huge victory, the development works done by the BJP Government of the State and organisational capacity made it possible,” Joshi said while blessing Sharma. The next stop of Sharma was Home Minister Babulal Gaur’s residence. Gaur welcomed him by a hug. “Alok was first mine, during his childhood we used to roam together on lambretta scooter,” Gaur remembered.

Gaur’s daughter-in-law and outgoing mayor Krishna Gaur welcomed Sharma by applying tilak on his forehead and presented him with a shawl and shrifal. “I am confident that my brother (Sharma) would take forward the development works initiated by me. As there is our party Government both in State and Centre I am sure that no one would be able to stop the development of Bhopal, Krishna Gaur said.

The last stop of Sharma was at the place of former parliamentarian Kailash Narayan Sarang who also blessed him. Sharma assured all the senior leaders of the party that the Bhopal Municipal Corporation council would work to meet the expectations of one and all and that no stone would be leaved unturned for the development of city.
