The Mayor of Gwalior, Vivek Shewalkar has instructed the authorities concerned to allot the houses that were constructed under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ which was set up by the Government of India with the aim of providing affordable houses to the poor.

The Mayor gave the instructions while he was on an inspection tour of the multi-storey building that was constructed for this purpose behind the water tank at ward number 7.

He asked the Deputy Municipal Commissioner, APS Jadon to co-ordinate with the concerned banks so that the loan formalities can be completed at the earliest.

Total 72 people who are living in the nearby slum areas had been allotted houses in the multi-storey building and had paid their share of the amount about a year ago but are yet to get the allocation.

Taking a serious view of this,  the Mayor instructed the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to finalise all formalities and allot the houses without any further delay.

The residents of the area complained to the Mayor about the stagnation of water at various places due to the broken sewer lines that were busted during the construction of the multi-storey building.

The Mayor instructed Shishir Srivastava, the co-coordinator of the Yojana to immediately take up the matter with the construction agency and get the sewer liners replaced.

Reviewing the under construction water tank behind the Sewer Treatment Plant at ward no 8, the Mayor instructed the officials to immediately finish the construction work of the water tank.  He also asked the accompanying officials to send a show cause notice to the company that was entrusted with the work of the water tank under the Amrutam Yojana to explain about the delay in the construction.
