Portraying the true colours of real relationships in the contemporary world, a Hindi play ‘Maut Ke Saaye Mein’ was staged here on Monday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium.

The play emphasised over the shape the relationships in contemporary society have taken. Bringing out the bona fide scenarios through the mature acting and a next-to-perfect direction, play Maut Ke Saaye mein somehow managed to woo the theatre buffs.

The play tells the story of Saxena family. After receiving a martyr’s death at the front Colonel Anirudh Narayan Saxena’s family began facing the real problems. His three sons, Atul, Anil, and Ashesh became spoil brats and their mother Anjana Saxena then became all alone to handle them and control them.

The eldest son Atul became a drunken monkey, the second son Anil became a fashion freak and the third son Ashesh was always behind girls and was a theatre artist.

All these sons of Mrs Saxena were behind her property worth `50 crores. As they can’t inherit the property till she is alive, they plan to kill their mother.

On the other hand Ashesh was into a live-in relationship with a bar girl Anuradha who in turn has international smuggler Arvind Rai as her boyfriend. Slowly and gradually the whole family was scattered and here enters another twist.

The family doctor and the legal advisor were also planning to kill Mrs Saxena to take over the property.

later Mrs Saxena could smell that there is something fishy she wrote a secret letter and put it on the telephone table. She then calls the cops who come into scene behind Arvind Rai. Anuradha on the other hand runs away, Rai is caught and there was shocking news waiting for the sons.

Mrs Saxena already committed suicide leaving her children in an awful situation of guilt.

Directed by Azam Khan the play is written by Rajkumar Anil and was performed by the artists of Flying Fairies Socio-cultural welfare organisation, Bhopal.

Azam says, “This play is basically for the young generation to take a lesson and learn the true meaning of relationships. Artists did a lot of hardwork over the script.”
